Mya Buena Matthews

Born in the Bronx, as the eldest of three, I was raised there until moving to upstate New York at the age of 16. In 2008, at 18, I was introduced to the nightlife in the form of my first gay club “Prime Time”. That night I saw my first drag show and was immediately hooked. I was blown away by the performance life and knew I wanted to be in the spotlight. In 2015, after dabbling a bit in drag, I moved to Orlando Florida. My first Florida performance was at the world famous Parliament House, I had seen and of course heard about Gay Days® and the Pageant and knew that one day I wanted that title. I began performing as much as, and as often as I could. I performed with the Diamond Divas at their reunion show and my drag career quickly took off. I became a member of the Kissimmee Queens and we would do shows and productions all over most of central Florida. I competed in my first pageant in 2019, placing first runner up. I caught the pageant bug, I then went on to compete in 4 more pageants, placing in most, but more importantly, learning from each experience. Finally the opportunity presented itself for me to compete for the title I had wanted all those years ago. Using everything I’ve learned and growing as a person and as a performer, I won, and now I can happily say I am Miss Gay Days® 2024! Dreams can come true!
